What are Heat Pumps?

A Heat Pump is a device that woks on the same principal as a refrigerator but in reverse; it absorbs the heat from the atmosphere and moves it to a colder space- the water stored in the water tank. Since the device is transferring energy from the heat source (drawing heat from the atmosphere) and moving it to a colder space (heat sink or water tank), it requires a fraction of the energy to accomplish this thermal flow of energy as compared to traditional water heating devices such as water heaters and boilers.
